Members of the community in Olds Alberta got together to celebrate the longest day of the year on June 24 at the Summer Oldstice in historic Uptowne Olds. Hosted by the Uptowne Olds Association the summer Oldstice featured vendors, musicians, performers local community groups and artisans. A section of mainstreet was closed to vehicle traffic and the local merchants in Uptowne Olds took advantage of the opportunity to offer bargain filled sidewalk sales. People from the community strolled through historic Uptowne in some of the best weather the region has enjoyed for weeks. According to Rita Thompson Chair of the Community Lifestyles committee for the Olds Institute for community & Regional Development, this was the first year this type of event was offered in the Uptowne Area and they were excited to hear from the community any suggestions or feedback that would help them plan for the next years event.
